Sending a Secure-Mail message to a new patient

Communicating confidential health correspondence via Secure-Mail is the safest way to exchange text, X-rays, CBCT and other digital information with other healthcare professionals, patients and authorised entities. To send a Secure-Mail message to a new patient, follow these steps:

 

1. Log in to your Secure-Mail account via https://health.brightsquid.com/login

 

2. When you are redirected to your Secure-Mail ‘My Inbox’, click on the green 'Compose' button at the top right if on a desktop computer:

Tap on the green circle with a pencil if on a touch device:

You are then redirected to a blank Secure-Mail ‘Compose’ form. 
 

3. Enter the email address of the patient recipient into the ‘To’ field:

Once the email address is entered, Secure-Mail will display the following message:

No match in recent contacts. Continue?’.

Click or tap on ‘Continue?’.


4. When Secure-Mail detects that the contact’s email is not associated with the service, you are prompted with ‘Invite new user’:

 Click or tap on ‘Invite new user’ to proceed.


5. A ‘Relationship’ select menu appears on the screen:

 Click or tap on the ‘Select Relationship’ drop-down menu and select ‘Patient’. A new option appears asking for a ‘Date of birth’:

The DOB is used for account activation verification when the user activates their Secure-Mail account. Enter the DOB of the patient. Please inform the patient of the DOB used if they are acting on behalf of someone else such as a family member.

Also, take the time to ensure that it is the correct email and it is spelled properly. If not, click or tap on the ‘Remove’ button at the bottom right. Otherwise, once all the criteria are satisfied, please click or tap the ‘Add’ button at the bottom right of the window.
 

6. Enter a subject that is appropriate for the message you are sending to the patient:

7. In the message body, type your message:

Or you can select a template to populate your message:

8. Click or tap the 'Attach Files' button to attach file(s) to your message:

Additionally, you can select a custom form to include with the Secure-Mail message.


9. When done, click or tap the blue ‘Send’ button to send the Secure-Mail message and its contents.

An email is sent to your new contact prompting them to activate their Secure-Mail account.
